Mark Wayne Hagood is a singer/songwriter, originally from Sweetwater, Texas, who DJ'd his way through high school at the local radio station, KXOX, before attending Texas Tech Univ. in Lubbock, TX where he also DJ'd in and around the South Plains. After school, he eventually wound up accepting a job in South Carolina. Mark didn't play music much in SC at first, although he had been playing guitar since high school, mostly in the church youth group and learning Hank Jr. songs. He also found as far back as high school that writing music came naturally to him and he could take almost any situation and turn it into a storied rhyme. While living in SC, Mark attended Willie Nelson's Farm-Aid in Columbia, SC and was blown away by the sounds of Texas Songwriter Robert Earl Keen. It inspired Mark to pick his guitar back up and go back to writing music. Intrigued with the "Texas Music" sound coming out of his home State, Mark also found comfort in that same style of music and eventually formed an outlaw country band that played Texas Music and Outlaw sounds in SC, far from the environment that most strongly embraces that genre and he today remains an ambassador to the Carolinas and surrounding area of the phenom of Texas Music/Outlaw Country.
Mark has since returned to Texas to play his music and plays classic country, Texas Music and Mark's originals around the State as well as back to SC and points in between and further out west. Mark's latest album is aptly named "4 Hagood Time" and consists of 10 original songs. Mark has appeared on "Good Day, Lubbock” on the Lubbock, TX Fox Channel. Mark's biggest influences are the likes of Robert Earl Keen and Waylon Jennings.
Mark’s songs span the gamut of human experience; love and hate, Christian and sinner, happiness and sadness, family and strangers, and some storytelling that takes your listening ears on trips that you CAN imagine in full color. “if ya can’t be good – be Ha-Good.” Mark lives life to the fullest and then puts it into words and music. If you get the opportunity to book and see and hear Mark perform, you’ll understand why his philosophy is “Every Day’s a Holiday and Every Night’s a Party”! www.markwaynehagood.com booking: (843) 260-5413 or booking@markwaynehagood.com
